Four men kicked down the door of a family’s home in Nashville, Tennessee while the family was sleeping and demanded money. When the parents said they had no money to give, one intruder held the parents and their two daughters hostage at gunpoint while the others made off with family belongings such as televisions, clothes, and the family’s shotgun, which they were unable to reach in time. A home security system alarm could have prevented this hostage situation by scaring off the intruders as soon as they kicked down the door. The men are still at large.
While home alone in Nashville, Tennessee, a 14-year-old boy glanced out a window and noticed a stranger walking in and out of his family’s backyard shed. The man then entered through the front door of the home, which was unlocked. Luckily, the boy was able to hide in a bathroom and escape the home unharmed when he heard the intruder enter the laundry room. Had his family had a home security system installed, the boy could have triggered the system to send police.
